What's your fav new Heuchera???

There's so many to choose from, but my number one pick is Heuchera 'Pistache'. Its that same limey color as Heucheras like 'Lime Rickey' and 'Citronelle', but I love it more because of its oak-shaped leaves and gorgeous fall color! Wow!

This is one of Theirry Delabroye's hybrid's. It has a lot of Heuchera villosa blood in it, which makes it more humity tolerant. So does 'Citronelle', another one of Theirry's hybrids, but Theirry himself said he 'Pistache' is a better plant. In fact, I overheard him say that he wouldn't have introduced 'Citrolle' if he had known he would eventually breed 'Pistache'.

I planted a mass of Heuchera 'Pistache' and Heuchera 'Paris' along the side of my boyfriend's house this fall. We'll see how it looks in the spring! I think I might plant a darker Heuchera, like Heuchera 'Blackout' and Brunnera 'Jack Frost' beside them as well.

My favorite new Heuchera is Citronelle. It has bright foliage and is humidity resistant which is good for the SE USA.

I also found an interesting article about them from Plant Delights Nursery in Raleigh, NC at: (www.plantdelights.com/Catalog/Plants/Genus/Heuchera)
